1990 Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution ll

October 31, 2026

The Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II ranks among the most extraordinary and sought-after sports saloons of its era. Limited to just 500 examples, it was developed as a homologation model for touring car racing and, perhaps more than any other Mercedes-Benz of its generation, embodies the close connection between the marque and the Deutsche Tourenwagen-Meisterschaft (DTM).

The example offered here was delivered on 5 June 1990 to Mercedes-Benz dealer Werner Dreyer in Allfeld, Germany. Having covered just 39,500 kilometres from new, this Evolution II represents a particularly compelling example of this rare and highly desirable model.

In 1995, the car was exported to Switzerland, where it remained with a single owner until 2007. It subsequently returned to Germany and remained in the ownership of one family from 2007 until 2025. The current Belgian owner acquired the Mercedes-Benz in 2025.

Particularly noteworthy is the car’s comprehensive documentation. Its original owner’s wallet is still present, including the fully stamped service book. Together with its traceable ownership history, this provides a reassuringly transparent account of the car’s life.

Factory equipment includes an electrically operated steel sliding and tilting sunroof, heated front seats, a Mercedes-Benz Exquisit radio with RDS, stereo rear speakers and the interior lighting package. Further features include an outside temperature display, rear headrests and a fitted fire extinguisher.

Today, this Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II presents in excellent overall condition. Its low mileage, well-documented history and original owner’s wallet with fully stamped service book combine to make it a particularly attractive opportunity for discerning Mercedes-Benz collectors and enthusiasts of historic touring cars.
