Delivery in Oerlinghausen. We were very pleased to have traded Niki Lauda’s racing car, a Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.3 16V.
On May 12, 1984, the new Grand Prix race track at the Nürburgring was inaugurated.
The spectacular highlight of this event was the “Race of Champions” organized by Mercedes-Benz and broadcast live on TV.
Mercedes-Benz had 20 racing legends, including nine Formula 1 world champions, compete against each other in 20 only slightly revised 190 E 2.3 liter 16 V production vehicles.

Niki Lauda started in last position with car #18 and had a dramatic neck-and-neck race with Ayrton Senna.
The result was: Senna came first, Lauda second – with a gap of 1.3 seconds.
