The Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, USA, wants to end Ferrari’s dominance on international racing circuits. Ford develops the GT 40. Twelve prototypes are built in 1965. Seven coupés and five roadsters were created. Chassis number 112 is one of these five roadsters built and also the last prototype built in this series.
The car competes in the following races, among others: 1000 km Nürburgring, Kyalani, Brands Hatch, Spa, Silverstone, Oulton Park.
After its long racing history, the car ended up with an enthusiast in London and remained there for decades. In spring 2008 we bought the car from its long-time previous owner for one of our customers – in a completely unrestored condition. The previous owner tells us goodbye: “You don’t like to let a good friend go.”
With Johannes Wecker in Paderborn we found exactly the detailed restorer we wanted for this project. From May 2008 to August 2012 he restored the car to the original and in every detail, just as we wanted him to do. With great enthusiasm, all of the car’s original components are restored, not reordered. His goal and task is to preserve the original substance, no matter how great the effort is.
The result justifies the great effort of this meticulous restoration. The car turned out incredibly beautiful!
