Super original Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL was first shown to the public in New York, February 1954. The trade press and the public were thrilled. The US-Dollar was strong and the American demanded numerous new Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing.
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing shown here was delivered new to Max Hoffmann on June 7, 1955. Hoffmann was the Mercedes-Benz importer in the USA those days.
We have checked the car in detail and are thrilled, because all numbers found are still matching according to the factory builtsheet. These include:
Also the original first identification tags are still on the vehicle.
Noteworthy is the sensational original condition of the car. It is certainly one of our top 10 Gullwings that we have traded in the past 35 years. The body of the car is in unusually good condition and the original red leather is well cared for and undamaged.
This car was ordered and delivered with the rare and desirable rudge-wheels. All five wheels bear the original production stamp "KPZ" from the manufacturer Kronprinz. The production date of 5/55 is also stamped on all five wheels. The very first spare tire is still mounted on the spare wheel in the trunk. Unbelievable!
Recently the vehicle has received a major service by us!
We are absolutely enthusiastic about this Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing and are very excited to see in which hand this beauty will end in through our brokerage.
