The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster presented here was delivered, according to the original Mercedes-Benz delivery note, on August 15, 1957, to His Royal Highness Prince Christian of Hanover, Hausgut Calenberg in Schulenburg / Leine.
The royal first owner selected, as a particular highlight, the extremely rare optional feature “Rudge hubs with copper hammer SA 985-198”. Depending on the source, only around 30 Roadsters were equipped with these factory-installed center-lock wheels, making this example especially attractive for collectors today.
The current owner acquired this special 300 SL Roadster in 2011 and commissioned an extensive, no-expense-spared body-off restoration between 2019 and 2022, carried out by a highly respected 300 SL specialist workshop well known to us. Included in the delivery is also a green hardtop, which was fully restored during the restoration.
All restoration work is comprehensively documented. The results of the work — particularly regarding body panel fit, attention to detail, and paint quality — are, in our opinion, very impressive.
The chassis number, body number, engine number, steering box number, and both front axle numbers are matching and correspond to the original delivery specification. All five center-lock wheels were, according to their stampings, manufactured in the same production year as the vehicle.
An expert report based on material analysis confirms the authenticity and originality of this outstanding 300 SL Roadster.
A rare opportunity to acquire an original 300 SL Roadster with factory-installed center-lock wheels in outstanding condition.
