This year, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is honoring and celebrating 100 years of Bentley with five Bentley classes. A unique gathering of the most beautiful Bentleys in the world.
We were proud and happy to see that our former 8-liter Hewitt-Bentley adorned the official poster of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
A little story about this:“I visited the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance for the first time in 1992. I was absolutely thrilled by the number of really top-class cars on display and impressed by the quality of the vehicles.
I was able to meet the organizers and was invited to a nice dinner at the lodge. I expressed my enthusiasm for the entire event and dared to make a suggestion for the future. I was of the opinion and expressed that there should be another class in the concours. I missed a class for original, unrestored cars. That was a real faux pas! It was explained to me that there should never be a class like this at the Pebble Beach Concours. Only top-restored vehicles would have space there. One could not and did not want to imagine showing unrestored, original vehicles there.
I was very happy that the “Preservation Class” was introduced in 2001. In addition to all the truly fantastically restored cars at Pebble Beach, the “preservation class” exhibits are often the secret stars on the site. The original vehicles are now held in great esteem there, on the “holy car lawn”.
It was a very special experience for me to win this highly respected Preservation Class in the summer of 2017 with my very original 8-liter Bentley. A circle had closed!
