2016 Zagato Mostro powered by Maserati

25.Mar 2026

from 2016, one of only five coupés ever built. It was created to commemorate the centenary of Maserati and combines design cues from the 1950s with modern engineering and construction.

Its inspiration is the Maserati 450 S Coupé, developed for the 1957 24 Hours of Le Mans. Zagato reinterprets this historic basis in a distinctive and contemporary manner. The carbon fiber body is mounted on a modern MonoCell chassis with an additional tubular steel structure.

Power comes from a 4.2-liter V8 engine from Modena producing approximately 421 hp, paired with a sequential 6-speed gearbox in a transaxle layout.

The design is defined by a long hood and a compact rear end, complemented by a fixed rear wing and butterfly doors. The interior is focused on the driver, following a reduced, motorsport-oriented concept with fixed side windows.

Zagato is one of Italy’s most significant coachbuilders, with a history spanning more than a century. The Milan-based atelier is renowned for its distinctive design language and commitment to lightweight construction. Over the decades, Zagato has collaborated with numerous prestigious manufacturers, creating some of the most iconic special-bodied cars in automotive history. Notable examples include the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato as well as the Alfa Romeo TZ1 and TZ2, both widely regarded as benchmarks of aerodynamically efficient sports car design. The Mostro continues this tradition, combining historic design principles with modern manufacturing techniques.

This particular example has remained within the same family in Austria since delivery and is road legal there. With only 106 kilometers on the odometer, it presents in virtually new condition. During its ownership, the car was transferred once between brothers, ensuring it always remained within the immediate family.

A rare and technically as well as historically significant collector’s car with extremely limited production.
