This week two super original Mercedes-Benz 300 SLs said goodbye to us and set off for a new home. The task was to find a very special gullwing car in great original condition. This desire was expanded; We were supposed to find a particularly great, original 300 SL Roadster.
We are grateful to the new owners for this exciting task and, together with them, are absolutely thrilled with the dream couple we were able to find for them. Both cars are “benchmarks” for originality and make the heart of every 300 SL lover beat faster.
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing was delivered to Sweden in 1957 and is still in sensational original condition today. The original interior in blue checked fabric fascinated us from the start. It looks like it was produced and delivered just a few years ago – it’s really hard to believe, just beautiful. We noticed that a small piece of fabric (about 3x5cm in size) had been replaced in the backrest of the passenger seat. While looking through the extensive documentation for the car, we came across an invoice from the Daimler Benz factory repair center dated October 8, 1971. At this point, the then owner had a major inspection carried out at the factory. On this occasion a small hole in the fabric of the passenger backrest had been repaired. The bill for this repair work amounted to 5.25 DM.
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster dates from 1961 and was delivered new to Oklahoma in the USA. The car was in the hands of a couple in Connecticut for more than three decades. The two of them always looked after “their” 300 SL very lovingly. This car is also in incredible original condition, the red leather interior is a dream. Even the first factory hardtop is included in the scope of delivery. A truly untouched vehicle to this day!
We wish the new owners a lot of fun with this fantastic pair of 300 SLs – probably impossible to top in this combination!
