Chassis 110101 was the first T26 Grand Sport rolling chassis to leave the Talbot-Lago factory in Suresnes, a suburb of Paris, on 10 July 1948.
Its original purchaser and first owner subsequently commissioned Saoutchik to create this extraordinary low-roof fastback coupé. The result was a car of dramatic and extravagant proportions – an undisputed masterpiece of French coachbuilding.
Few automobiles in history had come so close to the idea of the automobile as sculpture as this Saoutchik-bodied Grand Sport. With its bold fastback profile and uncompromising artistic vision, the Saoutchik coupé is rightly regarded as the culmination of post-war French automotive design.
